Specialist, not generalist
We only recruit in OT, ICS and industrial cyber security. If a role sits outside that, we will say so.
OTR exists because the people who protect and power critical infrastructure are hard to find, and harder to assess, unless you have worked alongside them.
Founder
Neil did not start out in recruitment. He spent years on the other side of the table, in OT security sales and consultancy, sitting with plant managers, engineers and security leaders and working out how to protect the systems that keep power, water and production running.
That work took him across energy, utilities and manufacturing, from early conversations about risk through to programmes built around standards like IEC 62443 and regulation like NIS2. He learned what good looks like in this field by working alongside the people who deliver it.
He also kept seeing the same problem. Every project came down to people, and there were never enough of the right ones. Clients had budget and board backing but could not find the engineers and consultants to do the work. Recruiters sent CVs full of the right keywords from people who had never set foot on a plant floor. Meanwhile, excellent OT specialists were being approached about IT security jobs by people who could not tell the difference.
OTR is Neil's answer to that. A recruitment consultancy built by someone who has sold, scoped and delivered OT security, who knows the environments and the standards, and who already knows many of the people worth hiring.
We only recruit in OT, ICS and industrial cyber security. If a role sits outside that, we will say so.
Honest feedback for candidates and honest market advice for employers, including when the answer is not what you hoped.
This is a small sector. We plan to be in it for a long time, so we treat people accordingly.
